On Jew

by Simon

You know, "Jewish" is a funny word. Christians, they say "I am a Christian." Muslims say "I am a Muslim." Hindus and Buddhists identify themselves in a similar manner. But we Jews of native English tongue, we say "I am Jew-ish." It's sort of like "I'm kind of a Jew," or "I remind people of Jews," or "I have symptoms of the Jew," as in "I'm feeling Jew-ish." Why don't we say "I am Jew"? That not only would be far more consistent, but it would take away the air of uncertainty that goes along with the "-ish" ending.
