Just one aside from the ever-Intrepid. My heading for this item was supposed to be "The Devil's Disciple," but it proved to be the very DEVIL to launch. I tried to post this 4 times last nite, and nothing. It would not come up. However, when I checked this morning, there it was FOUR TIMES!
Thankfully, Simon extricated a single entry but with only "The Devil" left in the heading. So, I'll leave it up to you to decide who you prefer as The Devil's Disciple. |

The software doesn't process punctuation marks well, and will truncate the title after you preview your entry. When you've got punctuation like that, usually you have to retype the title.
Or is there perhaps something Freudian going on here?

Freudian? In what sense, pray tell? I should like to try and answer, if you could be more specific. |

RE: "So who you calling the devil?"
Did you read the article? Someone is literally calling the devil--and for big reasons--but it's not me. I am not calling on nor am I calling anyone the devil, but am calling someone his disciple. Therefore, who's the devil, who is his disciple--and why?
Does any of this matter? You decide, but look closely at this little piece first, before you decide. Then, you can tell me why you think McCain's campaign is stupid and how he'll "crash and burn" if he keeps up like "this."

OK, got it. But get used to Obama, because he's well on his way to being our next President.
I used to be enthusiastic about McCain, and I actually believed he had some integrity, but he's turned out to be a sellout. The Palin pick was a sexy move and a sop to the diehards in his party who would rather destroy the whole thing than have less than their entire dream. She is clearly unqualified for the position, whether or not you agree with her views. And that is going to come back to bite the Republican ticket in November. Remember what the Naderites did to the Democrats in 2000? Now the Republicans have their own version: the fanatically ideological religious right. McCain once dared to criticize them. Now he is cowed by them. And that is losing my respect.
McCain has descended to slinging mud rather than the "straight talk" he became famous for. Lipstick, blaming Obama for creating the financial crisis (while he used to call attention to Obama's Washington INexperience), all comes across as cheap shots from a doddering old man who's lost his focus. He actually sounded crazy when I heard him tonight, and Obama pounced on it. McCain used to oppose regulation, now he's for it. He used to value experience, now he shows contempt for it. I don't see how he can possibly win. He'll be the next Bob Dole. America doesn't like cranky and crabby old men without any vision.

WHOAH, you ARE disillusioned!!! But he's a politician, what'ya expect? So, the bloom's off the rose and he's busted your balloon. I get it!
You think McCain's a sellout? This guy wants it so bad he'll sell himself 6 ways to Sunday--and has--for the prize. I did warn you, so now I will tell you this: it is not quite over yet. Therefore, not so harsh and bitter, dear. Go easy on the "old man" now, Carlos. Why the hell should you? This old sellout soldier is ALL that's standing between our America and a great, yawning abyss.
As for the article, Alinsky and the Devil's Disciple, you inform me, "OK, GOT IT." Did you, dear? It's awfully ugly. But 'Cassandra' Coulter provides a sharper perspective on the same subject:
________________________________
David Freddoso's magnificent new book, "The Case Against Barack Obama" describes the forefather to "community organizers" like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton -- the famed Saul Alinsky.
Alinsky is sort of the George Washington of "community organizers." If there were an America-hater's Mount Rushmore, Saul Alinsky would be on it. He tried to hire Hillary to work for him right out of Wellesley. A generation later, those who had trained with Alinsky did hire Obama as a community organizer.
In Freddoso's book, he quotes from the dedication in the first edition of Alinsky's seminal book, "Rules for Radicals," where Alinsky wrote:
"Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: From all our legends, mythology and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins -- or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom -- Lucifer."
I suppose it could have been worse. He could have dedicated his book to George Soros.
Even liberals eventually figured out that they shouldn't be praising Satan in public, so the Lucifer-as-inspiration paragraph was cut from later editions of Alinsky's book. (But on the bright side, MSNBC adopted as its motto: "Who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins -- or which is which.")

The problem with making an argument like that is it's guilt by association. Obama can respond that he's not Alinsky, as McCain can respond that he's not Bush. You need to stick it to these guys with their own words and deeds.
Just saw the 60 Minutes interview with them both. I thought for a change it was pretty even-handed. Both of them threw their share of baloney, but Obama comes across to me as more disingenuous (he can't bring himself to admit the surge was a success), and at the same time as far more "holier than thou." I find him insufferable.

RE: "it's guilt by association."
I'd rather be tainted by an assoication to WBush than in any way connected to the infamous Alinsky--and I'll bet you agree. In that particular sense, McCain comes off an absolute positive compared to Mr. Charisma. |

There is an even better article about this here.
This one will really give you the creeps. But unfortunately nobody reads Commentary Magazine.
By the way, Obama's community organizing buddies at Acorn have been in the news lately. Seems a lot of them have been involved in voter fraud.

Yeah, tell me something I don't know! But can you try to fathom the extent to which this voter fraud is being perpetrated? |
