But seriously, when you said you read a piece by Maggie Gallagher that you agreed with, you could have knocked me over with a feather. In a democratic society where the rights & grievances of all constituents are represented, there would have to be a referendum on Gay rights with respect to homosexual coupling. In that instance I would be totally onboard for Domestic Partnership with full privileges for gay couples, but opposed to gay marriage.
The majority vote would determine the outcome. But this was not what happened in California. WHY? This is not the Will of the People, nor is it democratic rule, is it?
Calling all Gays, Libs and Secular Progressives: Be careful what you wish for! Your wishes may come all too true. What now approaches encompasses ever so much more than mere 'Gay Rights'. |
